Under the umbrella of the
Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra, a unique platform has emerged that allows young professionals to participate in extraordinary concert projects beyond the limits of their studies and professional life.
It works under the musical direction of its artistic director, Volker Hartung, and guest conductors.
It is managed by a non-profit association that supports the orchestra's mission as a musical ambassador and promoter of a peaceful world by integrating numerous foreign young artists living in Germany.

By gradually finding its unique style of interpretation, characterized by spirit, vivacity, and faithful rendition, the Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra also won the hearts of people whose musical preferences previously did not include classical music.
Musicians from all over the world have made the Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra their musical home. Most of them are advanced students of the Rhineland conservatories and prize winners at international competitions.

Artistic Director Volker Hartung became the principal conductor of the Cologne New Philharmonic after studying in New York (Juilliard School of Music) and Munich with Sergiu Celibidache. Under the influence of the conductors like Hermann Abendroth, Celibidache, Toscanini, and Yevgeny Mavrinsky, Hartung developed a particular understanding of the French, German, and Eastern European musical traditions.
Under his guidance, the Cologne New Philharmonic orchestra has reached a world-class level and has become worldwide famous for its distinct performance style and popular success.
